Your Questions, Answered

  • Meeple & Mug is a board game café offering a unique combination of great food, drinks, and tabletop gaming. We have a large library of board games available to play, friendly staff who can recommend and teach games, specialty coffee, café food, milkshakes, licensed beverages, and a welcoming space to relax with friends and family.

We also host a variety of community events, including social board game nights, Blood on the Clocktower, Magic: The Gathering, LGBTQIA+ socials, and special gaming events throughout the year. Whether you're a seasoned gamer, completely new to board games, looking for a place to study, or just after a great coffee and a fun atmosphere, there's something for everyone at Meeple & Mug.

  • The best way to book a large group is through our Contact Us page or by emailing us directly (admin@meepleandmug.com.au). This allows us to discuss your group's requirements, including the number of guests, preferred date and time, table arrangements, food and drink options, and any special requests.

While smaller bookings can often be made online, we recommend contacting us directly for larger groups so we can ensure we have the best space available and help make your event as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Whether it's a birthday, team-building event, social gathering, or gaming club, we'd love to help you plan it.

  • We currently have one designated pet-friendly table available upstairs for guests who would like to bring their furry companions along. As space is limited, we strongly recommend booking in advance if you plan to bring a pet so we can reserve the table for you.

Please note that the rest of the café is not pet friendly, particularly our downstairs area, which is carpeted and used for many of our events and gaming sessions. Assistance animals are, of course, welcome throughout the venue in accordance with relevant regulations.

  • The easiest way to get in touch with us is through our Contact Us page, where you can send us a message directly. You can also reach us by email, phone, or through our social media channels.

Whether you have a question about bookings, events, food and drinks, gameplay, accessibility, or anything else, our team is always happy to help. We do our best to respond to all enquiries as quickly as possible and look forward to hearing from you!

  • At Meeple & Mug, we like to keep things fun! Instead of a fixed gameplay fee, we use our signature Roll-to-Play system. Simply roll two six-sided dice, and the total is your gameplay fee for the entire day.

That means gameplay can cost anywhere from $2 to $12 per person, with most guests paying around $7 on average. Once you've paid, you're welcome to stay and play all day from our extensive board game library.

We also offer discounts for larger groups and special gameplay promotions during selected events, so be sure to ask our team if any offers are available during your visit. Whether you're dropping in for a quick game or settling in for an all-day gaming marathon, one roll is all it takes to get started!

  • Yes. All guests using our tables and spending time in the café are required to pay the gameplay fee, including parents accompanying children. Our gameplay fees help cover the cost of maintaining our game library, providing comfortable play spaces, and keeping the café open for everyone to enjoy. If you're visiting as a family, be sure to ask about our family gameplay options and discounts.

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and young people visiting the café, the following policy applies:

Guests Under 18 Years of Age

    • Guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian while visiting Meeple & Mug.

    • Parents and guardians are responsible for the supervision, behaviour, and wellbeing of any minors in their care at all times.

    • To comply with our liquor licensing obligations, we strongly encourage parents and guardians to remain seated at the same table as the minor they are supervising.

    • Minors must not be left unattended within the venue, including in gaming areas, downstairs event spaces, restrooms, or outdoor areas.

    • Our staff are not able to provide supervision or childcare services.

    Group Visits

    • The supervising adult should remain actively engaged with the group and be readily available if assistance is required.

    • Where possible, the supervising adult should remain with the group rather than elsewhere in the venue.

As a licensed venue, Meeple & Mug must ensure that minors are appropriately supervised while on the premises. While families and younger gamers are very welcome, parents and guardians must maintain reasonable supervision of minors at all times.

Failure to adequately supervise minors may result in staff requesting that the supervising adult remain with the child, or in some circumstances, asking guests to leave the venue to ensure compliance with licensing requirements.

    • Some events may have additional age requirements or restrictions due to venue licensing requirements, event content, or operating hours.

    • Event-specific age restrictions will be communicated where applicable.

    Right to Refuse Service

Meeple & Mug reserves the right to refuse entry or request that guests leave the venue if minors are not appropriately supervised or if staff have concerns regarding the safety or wellbeing of any guest.
